I just gave back $3000. I won it from the ALA to go to UW this fall, and I was so proud of it. I was supposed to get the money in August, but due to the vagaries of the US Postal Service, I didn't get the check until today. And since I'm not going to UW until next year, I have to give it back.
I'm going to take this moment to feel sorry for myself.
Sigh.
Okay, moment over. I'm sealing up the check and sending it back.
On the bright side, I also finally got my $550 rent deposit back from the New Orleans apartment, AND (drum roll, please . . . ) a check from the state of Louisiana for $47.53. My cute little tax refund.
