Tonight the book club is meeting at my house. Here's hoping that all smelly weirdness has been banished. We read The Red Tent, and I liked it a lot. Is it Great Literature? Maybe not. This is still one of my favorite books, though, so I might not be the one to ask.

I've been reading a lot of good stuff lately. Don't you want to hear about it? Can you imagine anything more exciting to do with your time?

--Stranger Things Happen, by Kelly Link

Short stories. Some of the narrators are dead. Surprisingly good.

--The Deptford Trilogy, by Roberston Davies.

Finally finishing this Canadian epic, after putting it down and picking it back up a lot. As Canadian epics go, it's definitely my favorite ever.

--The Blind Assassin, by Margaret Atwood.

Yay for Canada again. If one were to judge a book by its cover, this one would do really well.

Also, my lawyer friend just brought me the British Maxim to read. I'm not really sure what his intentions were there. He says it has longer articles AND more nudity than the US version! Boy howdy, I can not wait.

Maybe I'll get a nail file and start reading Cosmo and smacking my gum like a good receptionist.
