**Kitty story alert**

Last night I watched this Discovery Channel show on cheetahs, and Neko was SO into it. Ordinarily she's not much interested in the tv, but when the cheetahs came on, she sat down right next to it and stared at them, turning her head back and forth with her eyes wide open. They weren't even making cheetah noises! She's smarter than the average kitty, I tell you.

Speaking of the Discovery Channel and the joy it brings, I watched another nature show on whales the other night. Whales are pretty damn amazing. For one thing, they showed all of these whales---maybe five or six of them, of both sexes---rubbing and rolling all over each other in a big gorgeous whale orgy. It was incredible. The British commentator had this to say about it: "This activity's purpose is unclear, but it may be a way of strengthening bonds within the pod." You think?

I don't comment about world events much anymore because I'm kind of to the point now where just thinking about them makes me feel like I'm going to hyperventilate. But I have to say: Does anybody--ANYBODY--think it's weird that right now, just after Powell gives his iffy (at best) evidence for war against Iraq, the government has suddenly issued super-scary terrorist alerts?

The answer to our question was Labyrinth, folks, Labyrinth. The winners are AB and stardwarf. Thanks for playing!
