I stupidly joined a committee. I am now realizing that there is a reason I dont join committees. The reason is, committees suck. They have weekly meetings and deadlines, and there is neither financial reward nor course credit to be gained from them.
Lesson learned.

Books Im reading right now/have recently finished:
YA selections:
Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, by Dyan Sheldon
Stargirl, by Jerry Spinelli
Holes, by Louis Sachar*
For grownups:
The Elegant Universe, by Brian Greene*
Superstring theory. I dont completely understand it, but I understand it enough to get that the universe is a pretty interesting place.
Lonely Planet Guide to Chicago
A birthday present. Liking the looks of it.
The Professor and the Madman, by Simon Winchester
You know, that book about the Oxford English Dictionary that came out a few years ago. Much fun for word geeks, plus: Murder! Insanity! Self-mutilation! Ah, good times.
Invisible Cities, by Italo Calvino*
Marco Polo chats with Kubla Khan.
An Imaginary Life, by David Malouf**
The Roman poet Ovid, who Shakespeare really got into fifteen centuries later, was actually exiled to a barbarian villiage for being too racy for the late Roman Empire. This novel is about what that might have been like for him. You should read it.
*Highly recommended.
